Glub
Glub is a graffiti writer, visual artist, musician, and prominent figure in Spanish urban culture, born in Madrid in 1969. He began his graffiti career in 1986, making his mark on the streets of Madrid as part of the movement known as Madrid's native graffiti style (often referred to as the “arrow style” movement).
In the late 1980s, Glub expanded his artistic approach by incorporating influences from New York graffiti and hip-hop culture, becoming one of the pioneers of this movement in Spain. His work stood out for its stylistic diversity, constant experimentation, and enduring presence in the urban landscape over several decades. Alongside his street art activities, he studied Fine Arts and specialized in painting in 1998.
Parallel to his urban artwork, Glub developed a career as a visual artist, participating in exhibitions since the early 1990s. He has also contributed to preserving and documenting the history of Spanish graffiti through publications such as Memorias en Graffiti and Relatos de un Escritor de Graffiti, where he shares personal experiences and testimonies from fellow artists within the graffiti community.
In addition to his visual arts career, Glub has been composing electronic music since 2012, exploring different styles of electronic sound production and incorporating his creative vision into both visual and musical expression. His work as a composer complements his artistic practice, reflecting the same spirit of innovation and experimentation that characterizes his graffiti and studio artwork.
Today, Glub is regarded as one of the most important figures in Spanish graffiti history, recognized for helping preserve the essence of the original movement while inspiring new generations of urban artists through both his visual art and music.
